Description
This 925 sterling silver baby spoon features a small relief of stars and a moon at the end of the handle: a five-pointed star with a crescent moon and tiny star points. With a length of around 12 cm and an oval bowl, it is tailored for the first porridge, while the back of the handle remains smooth. It is now also available individually – previously, it was only included in our sets.
For a Christening
A spoon that is part of the family from the very beginning
Not a toy that gets sorted out eventually, but a piece that remains at the table.
View christening giftsWhat makes this star & moon baby spoon special
The manufacturer calls this piece the "Baby Spoon – Mod. Star, in Sterling Silver": a classic child’s spoon made of 925 sterling silver, approx. 32 g, approx. 12 cm long. The relief sits compact and clearly defined at the end of the handle – a small raised star with an incorporated crescent moon and tiny stars, like a miniature night sky. The oval bowl remains unadorned and smoothly polished; the relief is located exclusively at the end of the handle.
Stars and moon – a symbol of wishes and security
A star stands for a wish one follows, the moon for the calmer side of the day – falling asleep, the night. On a spoon held in the hand every day during meals, this pair of symbols meets a very ordinary place: the first meal in the morning, the last spoonful in the evening.
For which occasion – christening, birth, and as a set addition
Parents choose this spoon as a deliberate first piece of cutlery; godparents and grandparents find a christening gift that is used rather than just stored. It is already included in our sets with a ball or handle rattle and in the three-piece table culture set, but has recently become available individually as well. Further spoon designs can be found in the baby spoon collection.
Engraving on the back – the series’ table culture solution
The smooth back of the handle is very well suited for an engraving – name, initials, or date, without interfering with the relief on the front. This makes the spoon the second engravable piece in the series alongside the smooth handle rattle. Both are available together as a Personalized Christening Set – name on the rattle, date on the spoon. Those who would prefer to include a personal message without an engraving can request a free SilberVerse card – more on the SilberVerse page.
Siblings from the star & moon family
Several pieces belong to the same motif: the rattle with teething ring, the handle rattle with a smooth grip as the engraving twin of this spoon, as well as the textured handle rattle, the ball rattle, and the cradle medal. Matching items include the napkin ring, the three-piece table culture set, and the child's cup with star relief.
Care
Rinse by hand with lukewarm water and dry well. A light tarnish can be removed with a silver polishing cloth. The spoon does not belong in the dishwasher.
