Description
Description
Baroque in the true sense of the word: nothing is empty; acanthus leaves, shells, volutes, and flourishes are entwined everywhere. Our "Barok" tea glass holder set embodies this style as densely and representatively as only Baroque can — and in the midst of the splendor, it leaves an empty oval medallion free. For you, for your initials, for your family crest.
This is a simpler variant in our Argenta crest family: a Podstakannik made of 925 sterling silver, highly polished with rich acanthus decorations, and a matching "Barokko" teaspoon with an openwork Baroque stem crown and darkening in the fine recesses. Presented in a velvet-lined premium case in navy blue.

View Father's Day giftsBaroque — a brief history of style
The word comes from the Portuguese barroco — originally "irregularly shaped pearl." As a stylistic term, Baroque stands for the era between 1600 and 1750: for movement instead of stillness, for opulence instead of austerity, for dense decoration instead of sober classicism. If classicism says "less is more," Baroque says "more is more."
On our holder, you can see the style in detail: no straight lines, but curved volutes; no calm surfaces, but acanthus leaves that grow up the body like plants; a shell as a crowning element above the crest medallion. Everything is dense, everything is dynamic — and in the middle, the one calm oval field waiting for the engraving.
The "Barok" holder — a different design than the crest holders
For those familiar with our ArgentA crest family (Double-headed Eagle, St. George, Bronze Horseman, Spassky Tower, Patron): These holders have an open column structure with a central oval medallion in a laurel wreath. The Barok holder is constructed differently: a closed body, dense acanthus decorations running all around, an oval crest medallion with a beaded edge and a shell crown. Bell-shaped base.
The spoon is also different: not a classic table handle and not an "Imperator," but its own "Barokko" spoon with an openwork Baroque stem crown (acanthus volutes and latticework), a twisted handle with flourishes, and a highly polished bowl. Very delicate and decorative.
What's in the set?
- Podstakannik "Barok": 925 silver, approx. 105 g, height approx. 95 mm, Ø approx. 72 mm. Closed body with rich acanthus decorations all around, central oval crest medallion with beaded edge and shell crown. Highly polished.
- Teaspoon "Barokko": 925 silver, length approx. 125 mm, approx. 22 g. Openwork Baroque stem crown with acanthus volutes and latticework, twisted handle, highly polished bowl. Darkening in the fine recesses of the stem crown.
- Crystal glass "Tschajny" (Diamond): classic Russian tea glass, approx. 200 ml, 65 × 100 mm, cut diamond pattern. Replaceable consumable part, easy to replace.
- Premium Case Navy Blue: velvet-lined, approx. 132 × 132 × 165 mm. Protects the silver from air contact and is the ready gift packaging.
By the way: The "Barok" holder is also available from us as a solo variant (Podstakannik with tea glass, without spoon and case) — perfect if you want to complement several holders for a table service or use your own glass.
Engraving — what works, what doesn't
The oval medallion on the holder is the main stage. Realistic options:
- Initials (1–3 letters) in classic cursive script or as an intertwined monogram
- Family crest or company logo (if representable as a line drawing)
- Date (e.g., 14.05.2026) or a short motto (max. 3–4 words, easily legible)
- A combination: initials at the top, date at the bottom
The medallion is round/oval — line drawings work best; very fine photorealism is not practical on this surface. Hand engraving by a silversmith best suits the rich Baroque style — it looks local and is long-lasting. Machine laser engraving is the simpler alternative, but looks more technical.
Allow about 1–2 weeks for a beautiful hand engraving. We are happy to put you in touch — price and duration depend on complexity, font, and crest. Bring your desired motif (e.g., as a drawing, photo of an existing crest, or vector file).
When does the Barok set particularly shine?
- Father's Day gift: family monogram in the medallion — passed down through generations.
- Grandfather's gift in Russian-German families — as an heirloom and reminder of home.
- Business gift: director, board member, long-serving employee for an anniversary. The logo fits centrally in the medallion.
- Godfather or godmother gift: for confirmation, graduation, engraved with the date.
- Wedding gift for the groom: initials + wedding date.
- Milestone birthday, retirement, promotion: the medallion becomes a small, dignified award.
- Lovers of Baroque style, classical interior design, opulent table culture.
- Heirloom and passing-on gift — value-retaining, collectible, gift-ready in its case.
Material and Care
925 sterling silver, highly polished. The holder itself is without darkening; only the fine recesses of the acanthus decorations on the Barokko spoon are antique patinated.
- Clean holder and spoon only by hand with warm water, mild detergent, and a soft cloth — never in the dishwasher.
- For slight tarnishing of polished surfaces: use a soft silver polishing cloth without abrasive particles — it restores mirror shine in seconds.
- For the spoon: never rub off the darkening in the fine recesses of the stem crown with silver polish.
- Wipe dry after use, store in the case — protects against air contact and delays tarnishing.
- Diamond glass: dishwasher safe on a short gentle cycle; hand washing is gentler and leaves it crystal clear.
- If you add an engraving: wait a few days for the work to fully cure before cleaning the engraved area.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Barok Set
What does "Barok" mean?
Barok (Russian Барокко, German Barock) is an art style from the 17th-18th centuries, characterized by opulence, curved lines, acanthus volutes, and rich ornamentation. The holder and spoon of the set perfectly capture this style — dense, sculptural borders with a shell crown above the crest medallion.
What is the difference to the "Patron" or "Master" set?
All three sets have an empty crest medallion for personalization, but different designs and styles:
• Barok — rich Baroque style, closed body with acanthus decorations, Barokko spoon with openwork stem crown. Simpler holder model with dense ornamentation.
• Patron antique patinated — Classicism with column structure and darkening, classic table spoon.
• The Master — Classicism highly polished without darkening, Imperator spoon with a second initial field.
Is engraving included in the price?
No, engraving is a separate service. We are happy to put you in touch with a silversmith. Price and duration depend on complexity (number of letters, crest detail, font) and method (hand engraving or laser engraving).
What can be engraved on the medallion?
Initials, monogram, family crest, company logo, date, short motto (max. 3–4 words). Line drawings work best — photorealism is not practical on this surface.
Does the holder have darkening?
No, the holder itself is highly polished without darkening. Only the fine recesses of the openwork stem crown of the Barokko spoon are antique patinated — this makes the delicate stem crown plastically visible.
Is the holder also available without a spoon?
Yes — we already offer the holder as a solo "Barok" variant with a tea glass, but without a spoon and case. Practical if you want to add several holders to a service or use your own glass.
Which spoon is in the set?
The "Barokko" spoon — its own design with an openwork Baroque stem crown (acanthus volutes and latticework), a twisted handle, and a highly polished bowl. Very delicate and decorative, perfectly matching the holder.
How big is the drinking glass?
The Diamond crystal glass holds approx. 200 ml — ideal for a classic Russian teacup with strong black tea. Note: Argenta supplies either diamond cut or diagonal cut, depending on availability; both fit into the holder and can be reordered.
Is the set dishwasher safe?
No, not the silver parts. Please clean the holder and spoon only by hand. The Diamond crystal glass is robust and dishwasher safe on a short gentle cycle — but hand washing is gentler here too.
Is the set suitable for women's gifts?
Yes — unlike the Rider sets (Bronze Horseman, St. George) or Kremlin symbolism (Spassky Tower, Double-headed Eagle), the Baroque style is gender-neutral. Particularly beautiful as a gift for lovers of classical interior design and opulent table culture.
Who is the manufacturer?
The set comes from ArgentA, the silver manufactory from Kolchugino in the Vladimirskaya Oblast (Russia). Classic line "Classic. Posuda" — complete in-house production from melting to hand-polishing, ECO-certified 925 sterling silver.
