Material and Workmanship

Grapevines, grape leaves, and grapes consistently adorn the silver dispenser, glasses, and funnel. Each line is hand-engraved into the silver, then a dark Niello alloy is melted into the depressions over an open flame. It permanently bonds with the silver and becomes more contrasting with each passing year. Gilded accents – inside each glass, on the rims, on the tap – create warm contrasting points against the black of the Niello and the polished white of the silver. The pumpkin-shaped silver dispenser with a side brass tap for dispensing is the centerpiece of the set, placed on an elevated precious wood base where the six glasses find their place all around. The set is manufactured in the SevChern manufactory in Veliky Ustyug, one of the centers of Russian Niello silver artistry.

Care Instructions

Wash by hand, warm water, mild detergent, no dishwasher. Do not use silver dip, as this would damage the Niello inlays and gilding. Care for the gilding with a soft cloth, do not use abrasive polishes. Store the precious wood base dry and do not bring it into direct contact with water.
