Material and workmanship
A niello vine frieze runs as a continuous decorative band across the matte silver surface, framed by the gold-plated rim. Niello is a black inlay that is melted into the engraved lines, ground flush, and polished—like ink in silver—and bonds permanently with the silver; it is not a varnish, but an integral part of the metal that gains contrast over the years instead of fading. The same decorative band is found on all pieces in the Botanica collection, from the teapot and cup to the sugar bowl, ensuring that every individually purchased piece fits into the overall aesthetic.
