Material and Workmanship

Niello is one of the oldest finishing techniques in silversmithing: a dark alloy of silver, copper, lead, and sulfur is introduced into fine, previously hand-engraved depressions, melted, and then polished. A chemical-physical bond is formed with the silver underneath — not a lacquer or coating, but part of the metal itself. Each blossom is first hand-engraved into the 925 silver before the dark mass is filled in and polished to a high sheen. The teapot's surface is deliberately matte: not a high-gloss polish, but a silky, satin texture that gently reflects light and feels warm to the touch. The contrast between matte silver, dark niello ornament, and the golden accents gives the teapot a depth that reveals itself anew with every incidence of light — and which increases with every polish. The result is 100% food-safe.

Care

After use, rinse the teapot with warm water and dry with a soft, lint-free cloth. For external cleaning, use a special silver polishing cloth — never aggressive cleaning agents, abrasive cleaners, or coarse sponges, as niello inlays and gilding are sensitive to mechanical stress. Not dishwasher safe. With this care, the matte surface will remain beautiful for decades.
