Material and Workmanship

The saucer is made of 925 Sterling Silver and features gilding, which gives the piece a warmer hue than pure, bright silver. The niello ornament on the rim is created by melting a dark alloy into finely engraved depressions – a technique that forms a permanent, chemical-physical bond with the silver and gains contrast over time instead of fading. The floral imagery of the Astra Classic line is shown here in a smaller format, distributed along the rim, while the center of the saucer remains intentionally clear and polished.

Use and Occasions

As an addition to an Astra Classic cup, this saucer completes an existing service, but can also be given as a standalone gift – for example, to tea lovers who appreciate complete tableware sets. Wash by hand with lukewarm water and mild dish soap; the dishwasher is off-limits. The gilding is more delicate than pure silver: a silver polishing cloth should not be used on gilded surfaces, as it can remove the thin gold layer. Soft cloths without abrasive cleaners and dry, light-protected storage will preserve the shine the longest.
