The Astra Classic collection from SevChern combines three elements: 925 sterling silver as the base material, gilding as a warming finish, and niello as a contrasting ornament. D110 — Size and Fit

With a diameter of 110 mm and a height of 12 mm, this saucer is designed for the cups of the Astra Classic collection. Its weight of approx. 92g gives it stability; the gilding on the top surface protects the silver and gives it a different quality than plain polished silver — warmer, slightly duller, with the gold tone as its own character.

Care of Gilded Silver Saucer

Wash by hand with lukewarm water and mild dish soap — no dishwasher. The gilding is more delicate than pure silver: do not use a silver polishing cloth on gilded surfaces, as it can remove the gilding. Use only soft cloths, no abrasive cleaners. Store dry and away from light.

How do I care for gilded silver?
Only with soft cloths and mild dish soap. Do not use a silver polishing cloth on gilded surfaces — it will remove the thin layer of gold. The niello ornament is melted in and is resistant.

Niello is a blackening alloy that is melted into engraved silver recesses. It permanently bonds with the metal — not a coating that can peel off.
