Material and Craftsmanship

The design here relies entirely on its form: a tulip U-silhouette with a wide opening at the top and a slimmer curve toward the base, complemented by a curved Art Nouveau handle with delicate volutes at the attachments. No relief, no crest, no enamel — just polished 925 sterling silver and the quality of its lines. This cup belongs to the Royal Childhood collection by ArgentA and is intentionally designed as a "quiet" counterpart to the figurative and heraldic motifs of the line.

Occasions and Target Audience

Unadorned christening cups are not a modern minimalist idea, but the classic form of a silver christening gift, passed down for generations: the family engraves the name and christening date, and the cup is subsequently passed from generation to generation. For families who hold their own coat of arms or wish to permanently record a special dedication, this cup provides the ideal surface. It is suitable for christenings, births, and as a gender-neutral gift when the baby's gender is not yet known. It is also intended as an intergenerational heirloom that is not tied to a specific motif.

Engraving and SilberVerse Card

Because the front is completely clear, the engraving becomes a work of art in itself. Possibilities include a classic name and christening date centered on the front, a monogram of two or three intertwined initials, a family crest, a wraparound christening verse, or large, minimalist initials as a design signature. Engraving is performed after review and personal consultation — please contact us before ordering so we can advise you on placement, font, and text length. Upon request, we will include a personal SilberVerse card in photo format (15 × 10 cm landscape) — individually designed to suit the occasion and the child, free of charge.

Care

925 sterling silver is durable and consists of 92.5% fine silver. After use, rinse with lukewarm water and mild dish soap, then dry with a soft cloth. For patina, a silver polishing cloth with a gentle polish is effective — regular, gentle care is especially worthwhile for an engraved surface to keep the lettering clear. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents and do not place in the dishwasher. Between uses, it is best to store the cup in the included gift box or a velvet pouch.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does this cup have no motif?
So that the entire front is available as an engraving surface — ideal for a family crest, a long christening verse, or large initials without competing with an embossed motif.

Is the cup suitable for boys or girls?
Both. Without a motif, it is completely gender-neutral and suits any child.

Can I have a family crest engraved?
Yes, that is one of the main reasons for the unadorned surface. Contact us before ordering so that we can coordinate the size and placement together.
