Material and Workmanship

Each of the 24 handles bears the same floral niello ornament on the front and back – a detail often only found on one side with cheaper cutlery. The working parts, i.e., the bowls of the spoons and the tines of the forks, are fully gilded, clearly contrasting with the matte niello field in the handle. The knife blades remain silver and polished, functionally sharp and well-balanced. All 24 pieces bear the original hallmark of the SevChern Manufactory from Veliky Ustyug, whose niello tradition has been documented since 1683.

With a total weight of just over one kilogram, the set feels noticeably heavier in hand than comparable stainless steel cutlery – a haptic feature that distinguishes solid 925 silver from light metal. With regular use, the silver will develop a natural patina that enhances the set's character.
