The Astra Black silver cutlery from SevChern is a reduction to the essentials: hand-engraved niello floral group on matte silver, highly polished bowls and tines. No gold. Only silver and black niello. For those who appreciate Russian craftsmanship and consciously forgo warm gold accents.

The Design — Niello on Silver, No Gold

Astra Black uses a single decorative element: the hand-engraved niello floral group. The handles of frosted 925 silver bear it on both sides — each line engraved by hand, the black niello alloy melted in. Black niello on light silver: a lasting contrast that needs no gilding to be effective.

The working parts — spoon bowls, fork tines — are highly polished and present food with a cool silver sheen. The knife blades of frosted 925 silver are functionally sharp. In contrast to Astra Classic and Astra Gold: no gold on edges, ends, or bowls. Only the engraver's craftsmanship and the material itself.

Only the gilding: Classic has gilded bowls, tines, edges, and ends. Black has the same niello floral group on frosted handles, but highly polished silver instead of gold on the working parts. Dimensions and weights are identical. Black is cheaper — the elaborate gilding is omitted.
