Teaspoon Elegy – 925 Silver Niello

The "Elegy" teaspoon made of 925 sterling silver features an artistic hand-engraved niello design of delicate leaf tendrils that extends along the cylindrical handle and the back of the bowl. Two narrow niello rings at the top of the handle add an additional dark accent. With a length of 160 mm and a weight of approx. 62 g, the spoon lies comfortably and feels substantial in the hand — a companion for coffee, tea, or small dessert moments.

Material and craftsmanship

The spoon is made entirely of 925 sterling silver, without gold plating. The cylindrical handle with its small knob end features a fine niello engraving of leaf tendrils, which is hand-chased into the silver and filled with the dark niello paste. Two narrow niello lines below the knob end accentuate the tendril engraving. The back of the bowl is also engraved with the same tendril motif, while the front remains polished to a high shine. The spoon is crafted by a Russian silversmith from the Veliky Ustyug niello tradition.

Care

Clean the spoon by hand with warm water and mild dishwashing liquid. We advise against using the dishwasher, as heat and harsh detergents can tarnish the silver. A silver polishing cloth helps to regularly refresh the shine without damaging the niello engraving.
