Generations of artisans there have refined alloys and passed down engraving techniques. Each beaker goes through more than 15 steps — from the flat silver plate to the finished piece that rests in your hand.

A soft cloth and lukewarm water are sufficient. No silver dips — these can damage the niello inlay. The niello is chemically bonded to the silver, not glued on, and is therefore robust. Over time, the contrasts deepen — the piece becomes more beautiful, not worse.
