Description
What does a guardian angel look like when it’s not in a painting, but sitting on a spoon? Like this: a small sculpted figure with curls, wings, and a halo at the top of the handle. Beneath the angel lies a sky of moon, shooting star, stars, and hearts. This baby spoon is made of 925 sterling silver, and the depths of the relief are blackened.
For a Christening
An angel for the christening day
Silver christening gifts with an angel motif and further ideas for godparents.
Christening GiftsDark depths, shining silver
The oxidation is in the recesses. This makes the curls, wing feathers, moon, and stars stand out in a dark shade, while the bowl remains mirror-smooth. The spoon measures 113 mm in length and weighs approx. 15 g. The handle features raised marks that can be traced with a finger, and there are small tactile dots in the bowl. It comes packaged in a white case tied with a rainbow ribbon.
What the moon, stars, and heart tell us
The moon can be read as night, the shooting star as a wish. The row of stars and hearts along the handle can be read as affection. These are interpretations of the motifs. The angel itself is considered a symbol of a guardian angel: a wish from the giver for the child, not a promise. As an angel christening gift, it is suitable for godparents, and for births for parents, grandparents, and friends.
No engraving, but still personal
The figure and relief fill the handle so completely that there is no smooth space left for letters; therefore, engraving is not possible. In return, you can request a free SilberVerse card, a verse on photo paper for the child. If you want to capture a name and date of birth in silver, you will find them among the birth spoons.
If you prefer it lighter, the same angel is available with golden accents: partially gold-plated angel. For a child born in spring, the rabbit with heart and stars might be the more fitting motif.
Blackened angel: what givers ask
Is the whole spoon silver?
Yes, it is made entirely of 925 sterling silver. The oxidation highlights the relief.
Can I have a name engraved?
No, there is no empty space for that on this model. As a personal touch, we offer the free SilberVerse card; for name engravings on silver, take a look at our birth spoons.
How does the spoon differ from the partially gold-plated angel?
In the finish: here the depths are blackened, while there, the halo, moon, and stars have a golden tone. The shape, length, and weight are very similar; you can find the other one here: partially gold-plated angel.
How do I care for blackened silver?
Wash by hand with lukewarm water and pat dry with a soft cloth. It is best to apply silver polish only sparingly to the smooth surfaces so that the oxidation in the relief is preserved.
What does a silver spoon mean as a birth gift?
By old custom, it wishes the child a good start. The angel adds an image of comfort and care. More motifs can be found among the angel gifts.
