Description
In many Orthodox families, a child receives not only their name at baptism but also a patron saint — a saint who will accompany them through life. This christening spoon, made of 925 sterling silver, features the image of Saint Matrona of Moscow in blue enamel and partial gold plating, one of the most revered saints in the Orthodox Church. A sacred christening gift that will remain in the family for generations.

Material and craftsmanship
The blue enamel is not an applied paint, but genuine enamel glass that is permanently bonded to the silver using the traditional cloisonné technique: fine gold wires form small cells that are filled with enamel powder and fired at around 800 degrees Celsius. This creates a glass-like, deep color effect that is UV-resistant and lasts for decades. The image of Saint Matrona is sculpted in relief and gold-plated, the handle features Orthodox ornamental patterns, and the bowl is polished smooth. The spoon is crafted by Argenta from genuine 925 sterling silver.
Use and occasions
This spoon is primarily presented for an Orthodox baptism, often by godparents or grandparents, and is also suitable for a birth or Orthodox holidays. In the Orthodox icon tradition, blue represents heaven, eternity, and divine protection, and it is frequently chosen for boys — a lovely guideline, even if the choice of color is free today. Saint Matrona of Moscow (1881–1952) is considered the patron saint of children, the sick, and pregnant women; her image on the spoon expresses the wish that the child grows up protected and strengthened in faith.
Engraving and SilberVerse card
Engraving with a name, baptism date, or a short dedication is possible upon review — please contact our engraving service. Upon request, we can also include a personalized SilberVerse card in photo format (15×10 cm landscape) — individually designed to suit the occasion, free of charge, and can be ordered with or without engraving.
Care
Clean the spoon only by hand with lukewarm water and mild dish soap, then dry immediately and occasionally polish with a silver polishing cloth. Do not use a dishwasher or abrasive cleaners — gentle cleaning preserves the surface permanently. Store the spoon dry in the provided gift box.
Frequently asked questions
