Description
Who is looking at you from the blue frame? This baptismal spoon made of 925 silver shows Saint Matrona of Moscow in a medallion, surrounded by blue enamel. It is Orthodox consecrated.
Orthodox Baptism
A Spoon with an Icon Motif
Consecrated baptismal gifts and icon spoons for Orthodox families.
To the Orthodox GiftsSaint Matrona in the Medallion: Silver in the Blue Frame
An oval medallion with the figure of Saint Matrona is set into the handle. The figure is silver, not gilded. Blue enamel fills the handle around it, interwoven with silver ornamentation.
A blue woven ribbon runs along the stem. The blue is vibrant and remains clearly visible on the light silver.
Святая Матрона: The Inscription Next to the Figure
To the left and right of the figure is the inscription “Святая Матрона”. This means “Saint Matrona”. The letters are small and belong to the medallion like a frame belongs to a picture.
Venerated Saint: Matrona of Moscow on the Handle
Matrona of Moscow is venerated as a saint in the Orthodox Church.
A baptismal gift featuring her image reflects this veneration.
Consecrated Matrona: What is Included
The spoon was consecrated in Kolchugino, at the Pokrov Church of the Alexandrov Diocese (Moscow Patriarchate). A certificate of consecration is included. More items for the occasion can be found in the Orthodox Gifts.
Blue, Gilded, Red, Blackened: Four Matrona Spoons Compared
The same shape is available in four versions. This one features the figure in silver on blue enamel. The gilded Matrona has no enamel and a gilded figure. The Matrona with red enamel shows a gilded figure on a pink background. The blackened Matrona is entirely dark silver.
Matrona Spoon with Name: Space at the Back of the Stem
The back of the stem remains smooth. There is room for up to 20 characters, for example a first name and date.
The engraving service is added as an additional item in the shopping cart. In the “Note at checkout” field, you enter the desired text. We check it before engraving. If there are any problems, we refund the flat fee.
A SilberVerse card measuring 15 × 10 cm can be added to the gift upon request.
Matrona Spoon in Blue: Give, Present, Preserve
What is customary to give for a baptism?
Customary gifts are things that last: a silver spoon, a cross, a cup. The guide to the meaning of the baptismal spoon explains why a spoon is one of them.
How do I care for silver with enamel?
After eating, wash the spoon briefly by hand and dry it immediately. Soaking and dishwashers are not suitable for enamel.
When should I present the spoon?
Usually on the day of the baptism itself or at the celebration afterwards. Godparents can include it with the other gifts or hand it over with a personal message.
