Material and workmanship

Each of the six cognac snifters bears the same niello bands: baroque cartouches and lotus blossoms, strictly symmetrically arranged, in deep black on gleaming sterling silver. The same motif extends as a circumferential frieze over the edge of the tray, making the ensemble a coherent whole. Niello is not a color, but an alloy that is melted into engraved depressions and chemically-physically binds with the silver – not printed, not glued, but permanently inscribed. On the base of each piece, the SevChern manufacturer's mark and the 925 hallmark confirm the fineness. Unlike many sets in our assortment, this service deliberately comes without gilding – the contrast between polished silver and matte niello carries the entire aesthetic.

Usage and occasions

Six snifters are intended for those moments when a man or a couple truly want to be gifted: a milestone birthday from 50 onwards, retirement after a long professional life, a company anniversary, or a wedding gift for a couple with a well-stocked wine cellar. Care

Wash by hand, lukewarm water, dry thoroughly. Not dishwasher safe. The niello surfaces do not require special care – they remain permanently dark on their own and only become more contrasting over time. For slight tarnishing of the polished silver surfaces, a soft silver polishing cloth is sufficient.
