Cognac set .925 silver niello Classique 7-piece

Six cognac snifters and a matching tray made of 925 sterling silver, all decorated with the same baroque niello bands – without gilding, relying entirely on the contrast between polished silver and deep black niello. The bowls are intentionally bulbous in shape to capture the aromas of cognac or brandy. For the moment when a drink is not just finished, but celebrated.

Material and craftsmanship

Each of the six cognac snifters bears the same niello bands: baroque cartouches and lotus flowers, arranged in strict symmetry, in deep black on gleaming sterling silver. The same motif extends as a circumferential frieze around the edge of the tray, turning the ensemble into a cohesive whole. Niello is not paint, but a black inlay that is fused into the engraved lines, sanded flat, and polished – like ink in silver, not printed or glued on, but permanently inscribed. Unlike many sets in our range, this service is deliberately without gilding – the contrast between polished silver and matte niello defines the entire aesthetic.

Usage and occasions

Six snifters are intended for those moments when a man or a couple truly deserves to be gifted: a milestone birthday from 50 onwards, retirement after a long career, a company anniversary, or a wedding gift for a couple with a well-stocked wine cellar. Cognac, Armagnac, and aged whisky are particularly well showcased in the bulbous bowl shape, but fruit brandy, rum, or a fine port wine also find their perfect setting here.

Engraving and SilberVerse card

Upon review, we can engrave initials, a date, or a short dedication onto the tray or individual snifters – the engraving blends organically into the niello ornamentation. Upon request, we will include a 15 × 10 cm photo-format SilberVerse card, individually designed to suit the occasion, free of charge.

Care

Wash by hand, lukewarm water, dry thoroughly. No dishwasher. The niello surfaces require no special care – they remain permanently dark on their own and become even more contrasting over time. If the polished silver surfaces tarnish slightly, a soft silver polishing cloth is sufficient.

Frequently asked questions

What is a cognac snifter – and why not use normal shot glasses?

A cognac snifter has a bulbous, wide bowl shape with a stem, often called a balloon glass. The shape captures the aromas in the upper part of the glass so that the full flavor profile unfolds while swirling and sniffing.

Can I drink from the snifters?

Yes, the service is made to be used. 925 sterling silver consists of 92.5% fine silver, without coatings or varnishes. Clean by hand with warm water and mild detergent after use.

Which spirits go well with this service?

Cognac and Armagnac are the classic choice, but aged whisky, fruit brandy, rum, or a fine port wine are also perfectly showcased in these glasses.
