Material and Workmanship

Each line of the floral ornament is individually engraved, filled with niello, and polished — a dark silver-copper alloy that chemically bonds with the base silver and does not flake off. The gilding covers large areas on the lid, handles, rim decorations, and fine lines of the ornament, creating a continuous picture of gold, niello black, and matted silver. The two handles with their spherical knobs give the bowl stability and a balanced silhouette. At approx. 370 g, the bowl brings tangible substance to the table.
