Material and Craftsmanship

The spoon belongs to the tactile DoDo series: A small, plastically crafted frog sits on the handle top, the handle itself is wave-shaped and features a fine relief that stimulates fine motor skills when grasped. The rattle consists of a lightweight, saliva-resistant acrylic ring without sharp edges, from which a fully sculpted silver frog hangs, gently swaying and producing a soft sound when moved. This combination of lightweight acrylic and a valuable silver pendant makes the rattle easy for even the smallest hands to grasp.

Occasions and Target Groups

The grasping ring can be used from the first weeks of life, when a newborn's hand strength and grasping ability are still low — an obvious gift for the birth from parents, godparents, or grandparents. For christenings, the spoon becomes a lasting memento, while the rattle serves as a toy for the first months. The frog is considered a gender-neutral motif without classic boy or girl coding and therefore fits regardless of the child's gender.

Care

Clean the spoon and frog pendant by hand with warm water and mild dish soap, dry with a soft cloth. For the silver parts, a silver polishing cloth provides shine; however, do not treat the acrylic ring with solvents or silver polish, but only clean it with mild soapy water and a soft cloth. Both parts are not dishwasher safe. The original DoDo box is best for storage.

Why an acrylic ring instead of a solid silver rattle?
Because of the weight: A solid silver ring would often be too heavy for a newborn. The acrylic ring remains light enough for the first attempts at grasping, while the hanging silver frog provides the valuable anchor.

How long will the rattle be used?
Usually from the first weeks of life until the beginning of independent grasping at around six to eight months. After that, it often finds its place as a keepsake in a display cabinet.

Is 925 silver safe for biting?
Yes, 925 sterling silver is food-safe and tasteless. The silver frog pendant is also safe for mouth contact.
