The ball is in relief all the way round. In the centre sits the ladybird with divided wings and spots, and around it sit little flowers in the same pattern as on the handle, only worked flatter. The light relief feels pleasant in small hands. All round, the ball shows the same picture; there is no front and no back. The handle carries small dots and four-petalled flowers and is thus decorated almost to the tip.

It measures approx. 12.5 cm and weighs approx. 25 g, with small differences from piece to piece. An eyelet sits at the transition to the ball.

The ladybird has always been said to bring luck, hence its German name, which means lucky beetle; a lucky-beetle rattle in silver carries this idea into the nursery.
