Description
Baby rattle 925 silver heart — spherical shape with flower rosettes
This baby rattle, crafted from 925 sterling silver, features a nested heart-within-a-heart relief on its spherical head—the outer heart smooth and raised, the inner heart filled with a hammered texture, surrounded by a finely textured surface. It's a motif that touches at first glance: two hearts nested within one another, like the love of parents embracing their child. The stem is entirely covered with floral rosettes—delicate, evenly spaced blossoms that blanket the handle, giving it a playful, floral feel. There are no smooth engraved areas on this rattle—the continuous ornamentation makes it a purely visual and tactile experience. A small loop at the junction of the ball and stem allows for the attachment of a ribbon or pacifier chain. Made by Zaramella Argenti —an Italian silversmith from Padua that has been producing solid sterling silver with a mirror-polished finish since 1948 and is a supplier to, among others, the French luxury house Christofle. The heart on the globe — a loving message in your baby's hand.

Zaramella Argenti — Italian silver art since 1948
This baby rattle comes from the Zaramella Argenti manufactory in Padua, northern Italy. Since 1948, the Zaramella family has been crafting solid sterling silver in a tradition rooted in Venetian silversmithing. The heart-shaped rattle combines three Zaramella quality hallmarks in one piece:
- Double relief on a curved surface: Modeling two nested hearts on the curved surface of the sphere—one smooth, one hammered—requires exceptional skill in shaping. The textural contrast between the two hearts and the textured background must appear harmonious on the curve without distortion.
- Invisible solder joints: Where the sphere meets the stem decorated with flower rosettes, no seam is visible — a remarkable achievement for two such differently shaped elements.
- Hallmark “30PD Z 925”: Each piece bears the official Zaramella hallmark — a verifiable mark of authenticity that guarantees 92.5% pure silver.
The sphere with heart-in-heart relief — texture contrast and sound
The rattle head is crafted as a polished silver sphere—a shape that fits particularly well in small hands. A nested heart relief is inlaid on the sphere's surface: The outer heart is smooth and raised—a clear, defined outline that stands out distinctly from the background. Within this outer heart sits a second, smaller heart with a hammered, stippled texture. The contrast is deliberate: The smooth outer form encloses the textured inner surface—like a protective cloak around something precious. The entire surface of the sphere surrounding the double heart is finely hammered—a texture that makes the heart motif stand out three-dimensionally and lends depth to the relief.
Inside the sphere are small silver balls that produce a rich, round rattle when shaken. The spherical shape amplifies the sound and creates a more consistent tone than figurative rattle heads. The relief on the surface offers an additional tactile dimension: little fingers explore the smooth outer heart, feel the transition to the hammered inner surface, and experience the difference between the smooth heart outline and the textured sphere.
The flower stem — ornamented throughout, without engraved areas
The handle of this rattle differs fundamentally from models with smooth engraved surfaces or baroque decoration. Evenly distributed across the entire handle are floral rosettes —small, three-dimensional blossoms that cover the handle from top to bottom. Each individual rosette is crafted as a raised relief, so that the handle offers a consistently ornamental surface, not only visually but also to the touch.
This means there are no smooth areas for engraving. The entire stem is decorated—every millimeter bears a floral relief. This decision is deliberate: the rattle is conceived as a purely visual and tactile object, where the continuous ornamentation defines its aesthetic. The raised flowers simultaneously provide a secure grip for small hands—fingers grasp the spaces between the rosettes and find natural resistance.
SilverVerse Card — Your personal gift message
Since this rattle doesn't offer an engraving area, a personal touch is possible in another way: with our SilverVerse card . Upon request, we will design a custom card in photo format (10×15 cm) — tailored to the occasion, the recipient, and with your personal message. Each SilverVerse card is unique , individually designed to suit the occasion, recipient, and sender.
Here's how it works: When placing your order, please specify your request in the text field, or contact us via WhatsApp, chat, email, or contact form . We'll ask for the details—occasion (birth, christening, birthday), recipient, and who the message is from. The card will be individually created and included with the rattle in the gift box. Currently, the SilverVerse card is free —a personal gift from us to you.
The SilverVerse card is especially valuable for rattles without engraving options: where the silver can't bear any writing, the card speaks for you. A name, a date, a blessing—everything you want to give the child can find its place on the card.
The heart — a universal symbol of love
The heart is the oldest and most universal symbol of love known to humankind. It needs no explanation, no translation, no cultural context—everyone understands it instantly. Giving a heart to a newborn is a way of saying: You are loved.
What makes this rattle special is its nested construction: heart within heart. The outer heart—smooth, clearly defined, protective—encloses the inner heart with its hammered, vibrant texture. It's an image parents instinctively understand: their own love enveloping their child. The outer heart is the protective cloak, the inner heart is the child itself—safe, enclosed, and carried.
In the tradition of gift-giving culture, the heart motif represents various occasions:
- At birth: Welcoming love — the first sign that this child is expected and wanted.
- For baptism: Divine love and blessing — the heart as a symbol of belonging to a community
- For your birthday: Family love — the bond that grows with each passing year
In contrast to the teething ring rattle with a heart and flowers on an acrylic ring, this spherical shape presents the heart in its purest and most concentrated form: no embellishments, no additional motifs—just the heart, nested within itself, on the polished silver sphere. The reduction to the essential makes the symbol all the more powerful.
Use and development
From birth, the baby rattle serves as a grasping and auditory object . Its spherical shape fits particularly securely in small hands—round, without edges, and easy to grasp from all sides. Weighing approximately 25 grams, the rattle produces a clear, satisfying sound when shaken. From about 3–4 months, babies begin to shake the rattle themselves and bring it deliberately to their mouths.
The heart-within-a-heart relief and the flower rosettes on the stem offer a variety of tactile stimuli for sensory development: Fingers explore the contrast between the smooth heart outline and the hammered inner surface of the ball, then move to the stem and discover the individual flower reliefs—each rosette a small, three-dimensional elevation that differs from the next. This variety of surface textures promotes fine motor skills and tactile discrimination.
Note on cooling: 925 sterling silver has natural antibacterial properties. During teething, the rattle can be briefly stored in the refrigerator (not the freezer) — the cool silver has a soothing effect on irritated gums.
Care and storage
Clean the baby rattle after use with warm water and mild dish soap. Dry with a soft cloth. For light tarnish, a silver polishing cloth is sufficient; for the delicate flower rosettes on the stem and the heart relief on the ball, a soft brush can help reach the indentations. Do not use harsh cleaning agents or abrasives. Not dishwasher safe. The included Zaramella gift box is ideal for storage—it protects the silver from tarnishing and preserves the rattle as a keepsake for years to come.
Frequently asked questions about the baby rattle, heart-shaped ball
Can the rattle be engraved?
No. The handle is completely decorated with floral rosettes—there are no plain areas for engraving. If you'd like a personal touch, we recommend our SilverVerse card : a custom-designed photo card (10 x 15 cm) included with the rattle in the gift box—currently free. Alternatively, you can find models with engraving areas in our baby rattle collection .
What does the heart-in-heart motif mean?
The nested heart depicts two hearts within one another: the outer heart encloses the inner one—an image of parental love enveloping and protecting their child. The inner heart, with its hammered texture, represents the child's vitality, while the smooth outer heart symbolizes the family's constant, protective love.
How does this rattle differ from other spherical rattles?
All of Zaramella Argenti's spherical rattles share the same basic shape (approx. 14 cm, approx. 25 g, 925 sterling silver), but differ in the motif on the sphere and in the design of the stem. The heart-shaped rattle is the only spherical rattle with a stem entirely decorated with floral rosettes and no engraved areas. Models such as the bear or the train have baroque stems with smooth engraved areas.
From what age is the rattle suitable?
Suitable from birth as a grasping and listening object. The spherical shape produces a consistent, full sound. From around 3-4 months, babies begin to shake the rattle themselves. The flower rosettes on the stem and the heart relief offer a variety of tactile stimuli for sensory development.
Is sterling silver safe for babies?
Yes. 925 sterling silver is food-safe, nickel-free, and has natural antibacterial properties. The rattle contains no loose small parts—the silver beads inside are securely enclosed. During teething, the rattle can be briefly stored in the refrigerator—the cool silver soothes irritated gums.
