Description
Baby rattle 925 silver teddy bear — spherical shape with hearts and moons
This baby rattle, crafted from 925 sterling silver, features a seated teddy bear in relief on a spherical rattle head, nestled within a world of tiny hearts and crescent moons. The hammered texture of the sphere gives the teddy bear a three-dimensional quality and lends the surface a vibrant, shimmering depth. The stem is adorned with floral rosettes along its entire length, creating a fully ornamented handle without any smooth engraving areas. This rattle is the most decorative of the three teddy bear rattles in the collection: while the two stem-shaped versions with smooth handles are designed for personal engravings, the spherical shape focuses entirely on visual richness and narrative power. A small eyelet at the junction of the sphere and stem allows for the attachment of a ribbon or pacifier chain. Made by Zaramella Argenti , an Italian silversmith from Padua that has been producing solid sterling silver with a mirror-polished finish since 1948 and manufactures for, among others, the French luxury house Christofle. A teddy bear surrounded by hearts and moons — a whole world in a silver sphere.

Zaramella Argenti — Italian silver art since 1948
This baby rattle comes from the Zaramella Argenti manufactory in Padua, northern Italy. Since 1948, the Zaramella family has been crafting solid sterling silver in a tradition rooted in Venetian silversmithing. This teddy bear ball rattle combines several of Zaramella's signature quality features in one piece:
- Figurative relief on a curved surface: Depicting a seated teddy bear on the curve of a silver sphere requires exceptional skill. The bear's proportions—round head, ears, paws, body—must conform to the sphere's curvature without distortion. Added to this are the surrounding hearts and crescents, harmoniously integrated into the remaining space. The result is a complete miniature world on a single curved surface.
- Hammered texture as a design element: The background of the sphere is not smooth, but finely hammered — a texture that makes the teddy bear and the symbols stand out plastically and gives the silver a lively refraction of light.
- Invisible solder joints: Where the ornamented sphere meets the equally ornamented stem, no seam is visible — a remarkable achievement for two such richly decorated elements.
- Hallmark “30PD Z 925”: Each piece bears the official Zaramella hallmark — a verifiable mark of authenticity that guarantees 92.5% pure silver.
The sphere with teddy bear relief — hearts, moons and hammered texture
The rattle head is crafted as a polished silver sphere—a shape that fits particularly well in small hands. A teddy bear sits in relief on the sphere's surface: a friendly bear in a seated position, with rounded ears, a soft face, and bent paws. He is not alone on the sphere— small hearts and crescent moons are scattered around him, forming a cohesive image. The hearts symbolize love and affection, the crescent moons security and the quiet hours of the night—those moments when a child needs closeness most.
The background is finely hammered —a texture that lends depth to the motifs and makes them stand out plastically from the sphere's surface. In the light, the hammered surface shimmers vividly and irregularly, while the relief motifs appear smoother and more defined. This contrast between the textured background and the smooth relief is a deliberate design element that gives the sphere its unique character.
Inside the sphere are small silver balls that produce a rich, round rattle when shaken. The spherical shape amplifies the sound and creates a more consistent tone than figurative rattle heads. The relief on the surface offers an additional tactile dimension: little fingers explore the teddy bear, feeling the raised hearts, the curved crescents, and the difference between the smooth relief motifs and the hammered background.
The ornamented stem — flower rosettes without engraving fields
The handle of this rattle is decorated all the way around with floral rosettes —small, round flower shapes that are distributed along the entire length of the handle. Unlike many Zaramella rattles, there are no smooth areas between the ornaments. The handle is completely decorated from the ball to the tip. This means that engraving is not possible on this rattle.
This design choice has its own unique charm. The fully ornamented handle transforms the rattle into a self-contained piece of jewelry—the ball and handle form a cohesive design, with every surface enlivened by motifs and textures. The raised rosettes give the handle a pleasant feel while ensuring a secure grip for small hands. For those seeking an engravable teddy bear rattle, our range includes two handle models with a smooth grip—see the comparison below.

The teddy bear — the first best friend
The teddy bear is the most universal symbol of children in the world. Since Theodore Roosevelt gave the plush bear its name in 1902, it has stood for security, warmth, and unconditional affection . It is the first friend a child receives—a being that is always there, never judges, and returns every hug. Where other animal motifs emphasize a specific quality—strength in the elephant, courage in the tiger, protectiveness in the bear—the teddy bear represents something more fundamental: the feeling of being safe and loved.
On this ball rattle, the teddy bear isn't alone. The hearts around him amplify the message of affection—each one a silent "I love you." The crescent moons tell of the nighttime hours when the teddy bear performs his most important duty: watching over the sleeping child, a faithful companion in the dark. Together, the teddy bear, hearts, and moons form a complete story: love by day, security by night—and a friend who is always there.
Giving a baby a teddy bear is a promise: You are welcome, you are safe, and you have someone who will always be there for you. Cast in silver, this promise becomes lasting.
Three teddy bears in the assortment — which one is the right one?
Our range includes three different teddy bear baby rattles from Zaramella Argenti. All three use the same 925 sterling silver with a mirror-polished finish—they differ in shape, design, and engraving options.
- Teddy Bear Sphere (this rattle, €239.95): Teddy bear in relief on a silver sphere, surrounded by hearts and crescent moons on a hammered texture. The stem is decorated throughout with floral rosettes. Engraving is not possible. The most decorative and narrative version—a whole world of images in a sphere. 14 cm, approx. 25 g.
- Teddy Bear 3D Stem Mold (199.95 EUR): A fully sculpted, three-dimensional teddy bear with a rattle head—a true work of art with a rounded belly, bow, and outstretched paws. Smooth stem for engraving (up to approx. 20 characters). The most expressive version—a teddy bear you can hold. 14 cm, approx. 22 g.
- Teddy Bear Silhouette Stem Mold (189.95 EUR): A stylized teddy bear in a simplified silhouette – rounded ears, open arms, clean lines. Smooth stem for engraving (up to approx. 20 characters). The most elegant and lightweight version. 13 cm, approx. 19 g.
The decision guide: If the rattle itself is meant to tell the whole story—with symbolism, texture, and decorative splendor—the spherical shape is the right choice. If a personal engraving is desired, the two stem-shaped models with smooth handles will achieve the desired result. The 3D teddy bear offers maximum three-dimensional effect, while the silhouette provides understated elegance.
Use and development
From birth, the baby rattle serves as a grasping and listening object . Its spherical shape fits particularly securely in small hands—round, without edges, and easy to grasp from all sides. Weighing approximately 25 grams, the rattle produces a clear, satisfying sound when shaken. The spherical shape amplifies the sound and ensures a smooth, even rattle that keeps babies attentive.
From around 3-4 months, babies begin to shake the rattle themselves—an important milestone in their motor development. The teddy bear relief, the raised hearts and moons on the ball, and the flower rosettes on the stem offer a variety of tactile stimuli for sensory development. The contrast between the hammered texture and the smooth relief motifs creates different surfaces that little fingers can explore again and again.
Note on cooling: 925 sterling silver has natural antibacterial properties. During teething, the rattle can be briefly stored in the refrigerator (not the freezer) — the cool silver has a soothing effect on irritated gums.
Care and storage
Clean the baby rattle after use with warm water and mild dish soap. Dry with a soft cloth. For the hammered texture of the ball and the delicate floral rosettes on the stem, a soft brush can help reach all the crevices. For light tarnish, a silver polishing cloth is sufficient—the raised relief motifs are particularly easy to refresh with this, as they are readily accessible. Do not use harsh cleaning agents or abrasives. Not dishwasher safe. The included Zaramella gift box is ideal for storage—it protects the silver from tarnishing and preserves the rattle for the next generation.
Frequently asked questions about the baby rattle teddy bear spherical shape
Can the rattle be engraved?
No. The handle is decorated all the way through with floral rosettes and does not offer smooth engraving areas. If you are looking for an engravable teddy bear rattle, we recommend the Teddy Bear 3D handle shape or the Teddy Bear Silhouette handle shape —both have a smooth handle for engravings of up to 20 characters. Alternatively, you can request a SilverVerse card as a personalized gift accompaniment.
Which of the three teddy bears is the right one for me?
The spherical rattle is the most decorative version—the teddy bear is nestled among hearts and moons, and the sphere tells a whole story. It is particularly suitable if no engraving is desired and the visual experience is paramount. The 3D stem (199.95 EUR) features a fully three-dimensional teddy bear as a sculpture and can be engraved. The silhouette stem (189.95 EUR) is the lightest and most minimalist option, also engravable.
How heavy is the rattle and how long is it?
The rattle is approximately 14 cm long and weighs approximately 25 g. Its spherical shape with hammered texture and relief motifs makes it the heaviest of the three teddy bear rattles — and therefore also produces the fullest sound.
From what age is the rattle suitable?
Suitable from birth as a grasping and listening object. The spherical shape produces a particularly even, full sound. The varied surface texture—hammered base, smooth relief motifs, flower rosettes on the stem—offers rich tactile stimulation. From about 3-4 months, babies begin to shake the rattle themselves.
Is sterling silver safe for babies?
Yes. 925 sterling silver is food-safe, nickel-free, and has natural antibacterial properties. The rattle contains no loose small parts—the silver beads inside are securely enclosed. During teething, the rattle can be briefly stored in the refrigerator—the cool silver soothes irritated gums.
