Material and workmanship

The shape is cylindrical and classic — straight walls, slightly flared rim, stable base, the traditional silver christening cup shape, as it has stood for the first gift of life for generations. The single handle is bent from a single piece of silver and is attached to the right side of the cup; delicate scroll ornamentation, small silver snail-like details with an almost baroque accent, sits at the top and bottom attachments. With a 100 ml volume and a weight of 65 grams, the cup is compact and suitable for a child's hand. This design language is the work of ZARAMELLA from Italy.

The elephant as a motif

On the front sits a small, stylized elephant in relief, depicted from the side, with a round body, an implied eye, a small ear, and a downward-pointing trunk — free on the polished silver, without a medallion or border. In Europe, the elephant stands for strength, persistence, and a long memory, a fitting meaning for a keepsake that is intended to be preserved for generations. In Asian symbolism, it is also considered a classic lucky charm and a protective animal. For a christening or birth gift, the motif therefore conveys an open, positive message without any religious or national connotation.

Occasions and target groups

This cup is the smaller, classic version of the Elephant line, as traditionally presented by godparents at the christening ceremony. Central occasions include christenings, births, and first birthdays; it is equally suitable for the first tooth, a name day, or as a good luck gift for other milestones. The elephant motif is gender-neutral and equally suitable for girls and boys. It is popular with godparents as a classic christening cup, with grandparents as a memory of their own childhood, and with close friends who wish to give a simple piece of silver with positive symbolism.

Engraving and SilberVerse card

The smooth back of the cup can be engraved — name and christening date are standard, alternatively a monogram, birth date, or a short christening blessing. The engraving is carried out following personal consultation; please contact us briefly before ordering so that we can clarify the placement, font, and text length. On request, we also include the SilberVerse card with your order: a digitally customized card in 15 × 10 cm photo format, matching the occasion and the person, free of charge and unique every time.

Care

925 sterling silver is durable. After use, rinse with lukewarm water and mild dish soap, then dry with a soft cloth. For tarnishing, use a silver polishing cloth without applying pressure — the delicate elephant relief and the scrolls on the handle can be gently polished with a soft cloth; do not use abrasive agents. Not dishwasher safe; no silver baths or aggressive cleaning agents. The included gift box or a velvet pouch is suitable for storage, which minimizes tarnishing and preserves the high-gloss shine for years.

Frequently asked questions

Why an elephant specifically — what is the meaning of the motif?
In many cultures, the elephant stands for strength, wisdom, and a long memory; in Asian symbolism, it is also a lucky charm and a protective animal. The image is particularly fitting for a christening gift: an elephant never forgets, and that is exactly how this silver keepsake should remain for decades.

Can the cup be engraved?
Yes. The smooth back is suitable for a name, christening date, birth date, monogram, or a short christening blessing. The engraving is carried out following personal consultation; it is best to contact us briefly before ordering.

From what age is the cup suitable?
The dimensions of 5.5 cm in height and 100 ml with a handle are suitable from about 6 months, as soon as a baby can sit and grasp with one hand. For christening gifts for newborns, the cup often remains in the gift box until the child reaches the appropriate age.
