Letter opener and letter tray 925 silver cardinal - Zaramella gift set with chain

Some desks are workspaces, some are stages. For people whose desk exudes rank and responsibility, there is the Kardinal version of our letter opener set: letter opener and letter tray made of 925 sterling silver, connected by a braided silver chain — with a rim that is wider, more pronounced, and more voluminous than in the classic version.

Material and workmanship

Both Zaramella letter opener sets — the classic and the Kardinal — are made of 925 sterling silver, high-gloss polished, with a braided chain and engraving after inspection. The difference lies in the rim of the letter tray: while the classic set features a narrower, subtle rim, the Kardinal version has a wider, more pronounced rim with more material volume — representative and with noticeably more weight in the hand (approx. 290 g compared to approx. 280 g for the classic set).

This premium line stands for more silver, a wider rim, more presence on the desk — for people who are not looking for something understated, but something representative. From the curation of Zaramella Classic Designs: Italian silver classics without ornaments, without engravings from the factory, without niello or enamel. The beauty lies in the pronounced rim, in the polished surface, in the weight in the hand.

Use and occasions

For a business owner's company anniversary — after 25, 30, or 50 years of company history — this set is an ensemble that will accompany the next decades at the desk, with an engraving (after inspection) of the company name and founding year, making it particularly personal. For the departure of a board member or law firm partner, the Kardinal version marks the rank of the occasion. For the opening of a law firm or medical practice, the wide profile rim on the reception desk signals seriousness without words. For a milestone birthday, such as the 60th or 70th, it is a worthy gift for a father, mentor, or long-time business partner — and as a gift for business partners, supervisory board members, or major clients, it expresses appreciation in a price range that suits the occasion.

Engraving and SilberVerse card

Engraving is possible on this set after inspection. You add the flat rate for the engraving service directly to the shopping cart; for multiple engraved pieces, usually one flat rate per piece; we will coordinate with you afterwards what and how much can be engraved, and if an engraving is not feasible, we will refund the flat rate. Upon request, we include a free SilberVerse card in 15 × 10 cm landscape format with your order, individually designed with your desired text.

Care

With regular use, the polished silver surface remains shiny on its own. For light patina, a soft silver polishing cloth without abrasive particles is sufficient. You clean the braided chain with a soft cloth. The pronounced rim collects hardly any dust — the wide profile is easier to care for in everyday life than delicate decorations.

Frequently asked questions

What distinguishes the Kardinal version from the classic letter opener set?

The rim of the letter tray: wider, more pronounced, with more material. Everything else — 925 silver, connecting chain, engraving after inspection, origin from the same collection — is identical. The Kardinal line is the premium version with more presence and more weight.

Is it real 925 silver?

Yes, solid 925 sterling silver. The material has a fineness of 925, meaning 92.5 percent silver.

For whom is the Kardinal version particularly suitable?

For occasions where the gift should reflect the rank of the recipient: board level, law firm partner, long-standing business relationships. The classic set appears elegant and understated, the Kardinal version representative and substantial.
