Fish fork 925 silver gold-plated Astra Classic

The fish fork from the Astra Classic collection is specialized cutlery for the fish course: 925 sterling silver, gold-plated, featuring the floral Astra ornament in niello technique on the base of the tines and the handle. The wide, flat shape with specially formed tines allows for the stylish cutting and serving of fish without tearing it.

Material and craftsmanship

The fork head features four wide, straight tines made of solid gold-plated silver, complemented at the transition to the handle by a florally engraved field. On the handle itself sits a slender cartouche with the characteristic Astra ornament: deep engraving with niello filling, which creates a fine, dark contrast against the warm gold background. With the niello technique, a dark silver alloy is melted into the engraved lines by hand — permanently bonded to the metal, not a print. The fork is crafted by SevChern in Veliky Ustyug, one of the traditional centers of Russian niello art.

Usage and occasions

Fish forks have a distinct design: wider, flatter tines than a standard fork. This shape allows fish meat to be precisely detached from the bone without crushing it. At festive dinners with a fish course, it is a piece that distinguishes true table culture from improvised serving — the width of 28 mm also makes it suitable for larger pieces of fish. Beyond the classic fish course, the wide shape is equally suitable for salads, antipasti, or cold appetizers.

As a gift, the fish fork is suitable for weddings, milestone birthdays, or as an addition for hosts who already own silverware. If you would like to assemble a complete fish cutlery set, a table knife from the same collection with the same decoration and proportions belongs with it — for the dessert course, the set can be supplemented with a dessert knife, and for a complete menu, with a dinner fork and dinner spoon from the Astra Classic collection.

Engraving and SilberVerse card

Upon request, we will include a personal SilberVerse card in photo format (15 × 10 cm landscape) — individually designed, suited to the occasion, and free of charge. Even without an engraving, it serves as a personal message for your gift.

Care

Clean the fish fork by hand with warm water and mild dish soap, then polish dry immediately. The dishwasher is unsuitable — it will permanently damage the gold plating and niello inlay. A soft silver polishing cloth preserves the shine and contrast of the pattern.
