The central piece of the set is a silver horseshoe with the Cyrillic inscription "На счастье" — "For happiness". In Slavic tradition, the horseshoe is one of the oldest symbols of luck, and it is traditionally given to the bridal couple at weddings — with the opening facing upwards, so that the luck does not fall out.
