Silver Beaker 925 Niello Turtle Dove Set of 2 — Wedding Gift

Two drinking cups made of 925 sterling silver with a turtledove motif in niello hand engraving and an empty oval medallion as a test area for engraving — a wedding gift that becomes personal with a name and date. In many cultures, turtledoves stand for the lifelong fidelity of a couple.

Material and workmanship

Both cups are made of 925 sterling silver and bear the same niello engraving: stylized turtledove volutes, embedded in floral acanthus ornaments, hand engraved in line relief. The dark contour is created by niello — a black inlay that is fused into the engraved lines, planished, and polished, like ink in silver. Unlike many SevChern pieces, this set deliberately omits gold plating: The contrast lives solely from the polished silver against the deep black niello, a purer, more modern look than gold-plated variants. In the center of each cup, an oval medallion remains deliberately empty — as a test area for engraving. The cups are made in the SevChern manufactory in Weliki Ustjug, where the niello tradition has been documented since 1683.

Use and occasions

As a wedding gift, the two cups stand for the two people at the beginning of their common path. For the silver wedding after 25 years or the golden wedding after 50 years, the turtledove symbolism gains additional weight — lifelong fidelity is then no longer an intention, but a lived experience. Also as a gift for a joint anniversary or for a spontaneous occasion where a couple wants to toast, the cups are a suitable choice.

Engraving and SilberVerse card

We test the empty medallion in the center of the ornament as an engraving area: After testing, we engrave the names of the bride and groom, the wedding date, or a short dedication into it, and the cup set becomes a gift that belongs only to this one couple. You add the engraving service flat rate directly to the cart with the set, after that we check the feasibility and scope together with the manufactory and agree on the wording with you; if engraving is not possible, we refund the flat rate. We include a free SilberVerse card in photo format (15 × 10 cm landscape format) with every personalized piece, individually designed with a dedication. Simply state the wish when ordering.

Care

Hand wash with warm water, no dishwasher, no abrasive agents. Dry thoroughly after washing and polish with a soft silver polishing cloth if necessary. The niello ornament needs no special care and does not change through contact with moisture — with every polish, the contrast between silver and niello becomes even clearer.

Frequently asked questions

What does the turtledove motif mean?

In many cultures, turtledoves are considered a symbol of lifelong fidelity because they remain connected to their partner for a lifetime. That is why the motif is chosen for this wedding set: two turtledoves, two cups, a couple.

Why is the set not gold-plated?

This is a conscious decision: pure silver with niello looks purer and clearer than gold-plated variants. The contrast between polished silver and black niello comes out most clearly this way — suitable for everyone who prefers a reduced style.

Is the empty medallion intended for engraving?

Yes, after testing. The oval field in the center of the ornament is suitable for the names of the bride and groom, the wedding date, or a dedication. With engraving, the set becomes a personal gift, and we include a free SilberVerse card with it.
