Niello on 500 ml Silver — the ornament on a large surface

The larger surface of the coffee pot gives the niello ornament more space. The floral band — blossoms, tendrils, leaves in the botanical plant style of Veliky Ustyug — runs completely around the slender body. The narrow lid has its own ornamental band. The geometric zigzag border between the lid and body is the accent that marks the transition.

Every line of this pattern was engraved by hand into the silver. Then niello: melted in, fired, bonded, exposed. The result is insoluble — deep black on matte silver, with no possibility of fading. What is on this pot in ten years will be the same as today.
