Where the limit lies

With twelve arms at a height of approx. 66 cm, the ring is full. Any additional arm would either have to be placed closer — causing the flames to get too near to one another — or form a third tier, which would require a longer stem.

This is exactly what the manufacture does with its larger models: candelabra with fourteen or fifteen lights measure 65 to 80 centimeters and distribute the arms over more tiers. Those looking in this direction will find them in the 925 sterling silver candelabra category.

Within this series, twelve is therefore the maximum — and the point at which a candelabra completely fills the center of a table.

Twelve flames on a table

A dozen candles at the same height produce a light that encompasses the table as a whole. Individual shadows almost completely disappear because each flame illuminates the shadows cast by the others — an effect known from churches and old dining halls.

The polished silver enhances this: over 95 percent of the light is reflected, and the curved arms scatter it in different directions. A candelabra of this size replaces the ceiling lighting in a medium-sized room — not in brightness, but in effect.

Space requirements

The candelabra shape is made for round tables and room centers because it presents the same image from all sides. On long tables, it is better to choose several single-flame candlesticks arranged in a sequence.

Even when not in use

The chased baluster stem and the leaf-adorned base carry the impact on their own; the dense ring of arms creates a silhouette against a light wall that one would more likely expect from furniture than from a lighting fixture.

A sideboard, a console table, or a high display cabinet shelf are the appropriate places. With twelve arms, a soft brush is recommended once a month — dust settles in the ring and can be easily removed early on.
