Material and workmanship

At the center of the pendant sits a classic five-pointed crown, engraved, filled with Niello and framed by a gold-plated outline. The shape is clear and instantly recognizable: points, arch, the characteristic spheres at the tips. The polished silver of the background reflects the light, the black Niello lines create clear contours. The gold-plated eyelet and connecting ring complete the piece. Niello is not a color or a lacquer, but a black metal alloy of silver, copper, lead, and sulfur, which is melted into engraved depressions – at over 800 degrees, insolubly bonded with the silver base. The black contours of the crown therefore do not fade, because they are literally part of the metal. The crown is one of the oldest symbols of dignity and specialness. As a jewelry motif for children, it carries a simple but powerful message: This girl is special, from the very beginning. The pendant comes from the SevChern manufactory in Veliky Ustyug, a city in the Vologda Oblast, known for its Niello silver work since 1683. Each piece bears the artist's manufactory mark, registered with the Russian Federal Assay Chamber.
