Material and workmanship

The basic shape is classically cylindrical with a slightly raised rim — the purist silhouette of the DoDo collection. The angel relief is embossed into the silver in a 3D effect: folded hands, a halo, and softly curved wings, embedded in a cloud-shaped contour. The motif appears calm and ethereal, intended not as a naturalistic image, but as a symbol. There is no enamel field, no color on the relief itself — the silver works through form and light. The DoDo signature sits on the handle: colorful enamel dots in green, yellow, and blue.

Occasions and target groups

In the Christian tradition, the guardian angel is the central baptismal motif — it stands for heavenly companionship, protection, and care throughout one's entire life journey. Even in non-religious families, the motif has established itself as a universal sign of protection and love. Key occasions include baptism, naming ceremonies, births, and first birthdays; it is equally suitable for First Communion or Confirmation. For spiritual and religious families, the angel is often the first choice. The motif is explicitly gender-neutral — ideal if the child's gender is not yet known at the time of purchase or if you wish to give a deliberately neutral gift.

Engraving and SilberVerse card

The smooth back accepts an engraving — a name and baptism date, a baptismal verse, or a short Bible verse are particularly suitable for this motif. Classic dedications such as "May angels watch over you" or "Under God's protection" complement the motif perfectly. You can add the flat rate for the engraving service directly to your shopping cart; we will then discuss the wording as well as placement, font, and text length with you. Upon request, we will include a personal SilberVerse card in photo format (15 × 10 cm landscape) — individually designed, tailored to the occasion and the child, free of charge.

Care

925 sterling silver is durable. After use, rinse with lukewarm water and mild dish soap, and dry with a soft cloth. The enamel dots on the handle are fired at a high temperature — do not use scouring agents or aggressive cleaners. For patina, a silver polishing cloth works well; for the fine wing details, use a soft cloth. Do not place in the dishwasher, and do not use silver baths directly on the enamel. Between uses, it is best to store the cup in the DoDo gift box or a velvet pouch.

Frequently asked questions

Is the angel cup only suitable for religious families?
No. The motif originated in a Christian context but has long since established itself as a timeless symbol of protection and care — many non-religious families choose it as a beautiful, lasting keepsake.

Is the cup suitable for girls or boys?
Both. Unlike the Teddy Bear Boy (bow tie) or Teddy Bear Girl (bow), the angel bears no gender-specific details and is equally suitable for both.

Can the cup be engraved?
Yes. The back is suitable for a name, baptism date, baptismal verse, or Bible verse. The engraving is done on the smooth reverse side.
