Children's plate, 925 sterling silver, gold-plated Niello | Astra Gold | Ø 150mm

A children's plate does not have to be colorful to stand out — sometimes a single, well-placed contrast is enough. The Astra Gold combines three layers in a small space: a matte silver center that remains calm and neutral, a gilded ring that frames the food, and a niello floral band at the outermost edge, whose floral ornamentation is permanently incorporated into the silver. This combination of matte finish, gilding, and niello makes the plate look not like children's tableware in the traditional sense, but like a small centerpiece that happens to also be used for porridge and fruit slices.

Material and craftsmanship

The plate is made of 925 sterling silver and designed in three zones: The center remains matte and undecorated so that the eye is not distracted. The ring surrounding the center, as well as the outer edge, features a high-gloss gilding that gives the plate a warm, elegant accent. At the very edge, a niello floral band runs around the rim — floral ornamentation that is melted into finely engraved recesses and then polished until it is flush with the silver surface. This combination of matte silver, gilding, and niello follows the tradition of SevChern from Russia, a company with extensive experience in working with silver, gilding, and niello techniques.

Collection

With a diameter of 150 mm and a height of 9 mm, the plate is compact and flat — suitable for children's portions without being too large for small hands and small tables. At approx. 140 g, it is pleasantly light, making it easy for even younger children to handle. The matte center does not distract, the gilded ring sets the frame, and the niello floral band visually finishes the plate — a clear three-part division that makes the plate both simple and special.

Special features

Floral motifs stand for growth, blooming, and the beginning of a new chapter in life in many traditions — a quiet but meaningful image for a gift for a birth or baptism. The gilding as an accent on silver follows a refinement technique that has long been traditional in Russian silverware: Not the entire piece is gilded, but rather specific areas are targeted to create contrasts and highlight details.

Occasions and target groups

The Astra Gold is suitable as a gift for a birth, a baptism, or a first birthday — traditionally presented by godparents, grandparents, or close family members. The floral motif is gender-neutral and suits both girls and boys. As children's tableware made of solid 925 silver, it is initially an everyday item for porridge and small portions and can later be kept as a keepsake.

Engraving and SilberVerse card

After inspection, personal engraving is possible — a name, a date, or a short dedication. The plate thus clearly belongs to this child and this moment. Upon request, we also include a personal SilberVerse card in photo format (15 × 10 cm landscape) — individually designed, matching the occasion, and free of charge.

Care

We recommend hand washing to protect the gilding and niello band: rinse with warm water and mild dish soap, then dry with a soft cloth. Do not use a dishwasher or harsh cleaning agents, as these can damage the gilding. With careful hand washing, the plate will remain flawless for a long time.
