Material and workmanship

The center section of the ballpoint pen is crafted from stabilized apple wood—a fruit wood with a fine, uniform grain and a warm brown hue, which is rendered exceptionally stable for daily use by being impregnated with synthetic resin under a vacuum. The surface is velvety-matte, with the natural wood structure remaining visible. Since each blank possesses its own unique grain, no two pieces are alike.

The wood barrel is enclosed by metal elements with an antique bronze finish and clearly visible screw fittings—a technical, mechanical design language that creates a high-contrast juxtaposition with the warm wood tone. The side-mounted lever mechanism extends and retracts the refill with a short, tactile motion that clicks securely into place.

Use and occasions

This ballpoint pen is perfect for anyone seeking a writing instrument with a distinct, mechanical character—as a birthday or retirement gift, a token of appreciation, or a business gift with high recognition value. It is also a suitable choice for enthusiasts of precision mechanics and vintage design who prefer items outside the realm of standard office supplies. Engraving and SilberVerse card

No engraving is intended for the apple wood barrel, as the wood would be damaged; there is very little continuous surface area available on the metal components due to the compact design. For a personal dedication, we offer the SilberVerse card instead: a digitally designed greeting card in 15 × 10 cm landscape format, individually tailored to your gift and free of charge.

Care

The ballpoint pen is a writing instrument and does not come into contact with food. The lever mechanism is maintenance-free under normal use. Keep the apple wood barrel dry, do not submerge in water, and wipe dry immediately if it becomes damp—the synthetic resin stabilization makes the wood more robust, but not waterproof.

Frequently asked questions

How does the side lever mechanism work?

A small lever on the side is operated, which extends the refill from the front end; it retracts when moved back to the starting position. The mechanism is robust and requires no maintenance with normal use.

Which refill fits this pen?

A standard Parker-style refill, which is available at stationery stores in various colors and line widths. It can be changed by unscrewing the front section.

Why does every piece look slightly different?

Apple wood has a natural grain that varies from blank to blank. Your ballpoint pen will look slightly different in color shade and grain detail than the photo—this gives it a pattern all its own.
