Material and craftsmanship
The Astra Classic collection combines partial gilding with traditional niello engraving – a millenia-old technique also known as "ink in silver." A sulfur alloy is melted into finely engraved grooves, forming a permanent, chemical-physical bond with the silver. The result is deep black lines that do not peel off and even deepen over time with polishing. The spoon handle features the characteristic Astra pattern in this technique, while the wide bowl is generously designed for serving. At approx. 144 mm in length and weighing approx. 44 g, the spoon is well-balanced in the hand – a serving piece that not only fulfills its purpose but makes a statement of its own on the breakfast table.
