Material and craftsmanship
The cup rests on a two-tier base made of 925 sterling silver with a gold-plated ring, while the stem features a golden node as a subtle accent between the base and the bowl. The rim of the bowl is fully gold-plated on the inside — gold that catches the light as soon as the cup is raised. In the center of the bowl sits an oval medallion on a light background: the Order of Victory, its star in bright red enamel, the lines in fine hand-engraved niello, framed by dense floral vines in blue-black with golden fields. Two golden stars add further accents beside the medallion. Niello is not a paint applied to the surface, but a black inlay that is melted into the engraved lines, planished, and polished — like ink in silver — creating a permanent bond with the silver that does not flake off and gains contrast over time as the piece is cared for and polished.
