Delivery times

Material and craftsmanship
Each cup feels substantial in the hand – solid 925 silver with a clear, cylindrical shape. The upper rim is broadly edged in gold, beneath which a band of black niello ornament wraps around the cup: a stylized blossom with a rosette, framed by leaves and vines. The gilding is applied in multiple stages: the interior is fully gold-plated, the upper rim features a wide gold line, and even the fine silver strokes of the hand-engraving are individually gilded. It is a detail that is barely noticeable in the photo, but immediately felt when held. The engraving is performed by hand by the silversmith, not by a machine – small differences between the two cups in the set are normal and not a flaw.
Usage and occasions
The cups are intended for ice-cold vodka: place both the spirit and the cups in the freezer briefly, and remove them just before pouring. As a gift, the set is perfect for a silver wedding anniversary, a milestone birthday, a name day, retirement, or as a token of appreciation for a stylish business partner. Two cups represent companionship – the classic image of two people toasting together.

Care
Wash by hand only, using lukewarm water. Never put them in the dishwasher – the hot detergent will damage the gilding. Dry immediately after rinsing; a soft cloth is sufficient. Do not scrub the interior gilding; do not use scouring powder. The niello black remains dark on its own. If the polished silver tarnishes slightly, a silver polishing cloth will help.
Frequently asked questions
Why are the cups gold-plated on the inside?
Gold creates a warm contrast to the black niello on the outside. This has been the practice in the Russian silversmithing tradition for a long time.
Are both cups in the set exactly the same?
No, and that is a mark of quality. Each cup is engraved and niellated by hand – there are slight differences in the ornament between the two, not a flaw, but proof of genuine hand-engraving.
Can I expand the set to four or six cups?
Yes. Upon request, SevChern can produce any set as a collection of 2, 4, or 6. Let us know the desired quantity in the order field, and we will get back to you with a delivery date.
