Schnapps Glasses Set 925 Silver Niello Grapes — Box with 3 Glasses

A silver casket that opens to reveal three shot glasses inside. The casket is shaped like a stemmed bowl with a domed lid, with dark niello grape motifs on every surface, gold edges and a gold finial on the lid. The three glasses inside bear the same motif, are gilded on the inside and fit perfectly into the bowl. Remove the lid, take out the glasses, pour, raise a toast, put them back, replace the lid — a drinking set that looks like a sculpture when not in use.

Materials and craftsmanship

What makes this set special is that the casket is not just packaging, but part of the experience. The stemmed bowl with its domed lid stands on a baluster foot with its own ornamental band — when closed, it looks like a table centrepiece. Only when the lid is lifted do the three glasses appear, standing side by side in the bowl with their gold rims facing up. The same motif adorns all four pieces: heavy clusters of grapes hang from vines, framed by leaves, while gold surfaces gleam against the dark niello background. In Russian ornamentation, grapes have long symbolised abundance and enjoyment — a motif that suits a shot set just as well as a wine goblet. On the casket, the pattern covers the entire bowl and lid; every grape, leaf and vine is hand-engraved into the silver and fired with the niello compound, while the gold accents are applied separately. With a four-piece set, the work involved is multiplied accordingly. The SevChern workshop in Veliky Ustyug has carried on this technique for generations.

Uses and occasions

For a company anniversary or a business gift intended to make a statement, this set is a sure choice — three shot glasses in a silver casket with a domed lid are unwrapped, admired and remembered. It also makes a fitting gift for a milestone birthday, such as a 50th or 60th: three glasses for three close friends, with the casket afterwards taking pride of place on the mantelpiece. For a wedding or silver wedding anniversary, the three glasses can represent the bride, groom and best man, or simply three generations of a family, united by the casket that holds them together. And after a lifetime of work, a set like this makes a retirement gift that colleagues can choose together and the retiree can enjoy on many evenings to come.

Engraving and SilberVerse card

Subject to review, engraving is possible on the glasses — on the foot or rim — as well as on the casket, on the foot or inside the lid. If you wish, we can include a personalised SilberVerse card in photo format (15 × 10 cm, landscape), free of charge and designed especially for the occasion.

Care

Clean all four pieces by hand only, using lukewarm water, and dry them afterwards with a soft cloth. The gilded surfaces and niello inlays are sensitive to harsh cleaning agents and dishwashers — a silver polishing cloth is quite sufficient to maintain their regular shine. Store the set closed in the casket; this also provides extra protection for the glasses.

Frequently asked questions

Can you drink from the glasses?

Yes — the glasses are made of 925 silver and gilded inside. Each glass holds approx. 2 to 3 cl, a classic serving of schnapps or vodka. Clean the glasses with warm water rather than putting them in the dishwasher.

Does the casket stand securely without the glasses?

Yes, the stemmed bowl stands securely on its wide foot, with or without the glasses and with or without the lid in place. Closed, it looks like a sculpture in its own right; open, it becomes a serving vessel.

Is engraving possible?

Yes, subject to review — on the glasses, on the foot or rim; on the casket, on the foot or inside the lid. A free SilberVerse card can also be included on request.
