Material and Craftsmanship

The tray and fork are made of solid 925 sterling silver and feature an ornament in blue and gold at the handle ends – floral motifs encircling small medallions. The lemon fork is identifiable by its spiral-twisted, gilded handle, which tapers into narrow silver ring sections and an ornamental end. The Niello inlay is created in several steps: first, the motif is engraved, then the Niello compound is melted in, polished, and combined with the gilding. The result is a contrast of warm gold and dark ornamental lines that gives the small tray its presence.
