Description
Description
You open the egg—and inside, a vase blooms. Not a shot glass like in the George Egg, but a delicate miniature vase made of gilded silver, from which gemstone blossoms grow: red garnets, green agates, blue stones—a handful of gemstones rising from the golden bowl like a bouquet. This is the surprise inside the "Precious Wonder": an entire garden, hidden in an egg made of 925 sterling silver. Closed, a sculpture with intricate niello ornamentation and gilding; open, a work of art no one expects. Ø 42 mm, H 84 mm, approx. 101 g—smaller than the George Egg, but no less impressive.
Souvenir Eggs made of 925 Silver — Russian Tradition Handcrafted
Each egg a surprise: shot glass, miniature vase, gemstones. SevChern Manufacture.

The lid flips open, and a miniature vase rises from the gilded interior of the egg. Golden stems reach upwards, and at their ends sit faceted gemstones: pear-shaped garnets in deep red, round garnets glowing like berries, and pear-shaped green agates reminiscent of leaves. 14 stones in total—four pear-shaped garnets, six round garnets, four pear-shaped agates—arranged like a bouquet that never wilts.
The vase sits in a gilded bowl that also forms the interior of the egg. When you close the egg, the entire garden disappears into the silver—invisible, protected, a surprise that works every time someone opens the egg for the first time.
The egg from the outside — intricate niello ornament on silver and gold
The exterior of the egg is completely covered with niello hand-engraving—not a square centimeter remains untouched. Large floral medallions with star-shaped blossoms alternate with dense vine fields, all in black on silver with golden contours. The top is finished with a gilded knob with a leaf shape—a small crown that completes the egg upwards.
The base is round, polished silver with a niello band that echoes the egg's ornamentation. The golden ring between the base and the egg body gives the piece its proportion—it stands securely and looks light, almost floating.
The Russian tradition of surprise eggs
The decorated egg with a hidden surprise is one of the oldest gift traditions in Russian culture. Since the Middle Ages, artfully designed eggs have been given as gifts at Easter—the most important holiday in Russian Orthodoxy. The form symbolizes rebirth and new life, the closed shell represents the tomb, and the opening signifies the resurrection. The idea of hiding a surprise inside goes back to a time long before the famous jeweler eggs: even at the Tsar's court, Easter eggs contained small gifts.
This SevChern egg stands precisely in this tradition—but with the unique signature of niello silversmithing from Veliky Ustyug. No enamel, no jewel mechanism, but niello hand-engraving and a gemstone vase. The surprise is not a toy, but a work of art within a work of art.
Who this egg is made for
Collectors: The "Precious Wonder" is a collector's item that finds its own place between the great jeweler eggs of history and the niello tradition. Those who already own the George Egg with shot glass or the Garnet Egg will complement their collection with the piece featuring the most unusual surprise.
Gift for women: The gemstone vase inside makes this egg one of the few pieces in the assortment that is specifically suitable for women—those who appreciate jewelry and gemstones will love this egg. More: Luxury Gifts for Women.
Milestone Birthday: 50th, 60th, 70th—a gift that reflects the significance of the occasion. Small enough for a display cabinet, precious enough for a place of honor.
Easter: The most original form of an Easter gift—a silver egg in a tradition older than any chocolate bunny.
