Description
A stemmed glass made of solid 925 sterling silver — crafted by the SevChern manufactory in Veliky Ustyug, one of the oldest centers of Russian silversmithing. The traditional niello ornamentation, which wraps around the bowl in a wide band, makes this drinking vessel a piece of living dining culture.

Material and craftsmanship
The niello technique is a centuries-old silver decorating art that continues to be practiced in its original form in Veliky Ustyug to this day. Precise grooves are carved into the silver and filled with a black enamel-like mixture, the niello. The result is high-contrast, finely drawn ornaments that stand out in relief against the silver background. On this stemmed glass, a dense floral vine band encircles the upper bowl, underscored by a warm, champagne-colored background that makes the ornamentation shine even more. The motif continues on the base in its own, narrower band.
The stemmed glass is made of solid sterling silver rather than thin-walled mass-produced goods and is hallmarked.
