The niello technique comes from the Russian silversmithing tradition: a dark alloy is melted into finely pre-engraved lines and permanently bonded with the silver – like ink in silver, no printing, no coating. This combination of engraving and niello contrast, entirely without gold, gives the spoon its distinctive, minimalist character. The hallmark on the handle confirms the 925 sterling silver fineness.
