The floral motif — Meaning

Material and craftsmanship

The inner porcelain cup comes from Imperial Porcelain in St. Petersburg, one of Russia's most traditional porcelain manufactories, recognizable by the factory stamp on the bottom. The holder is created at Russkiye Samotsvety in several work steps: Through electroforming, silver is built up in a galvanic bath on a wax model, which is subsequently removed – the result is a three-dimensional yet pleasantly light silver object. In the enamel filigree technique, the finest twisted silver wires form the relief pattern; along these contours, the enamel color is applied by hand and painted with glaze color. A final, wafer-thin gilding provides shine and additional protection for the surface. Because every area is colored by hand, each specimen differs from the next in small nuances.

Care

Clean the cup and holder exclusively by hand with warm water and mild dish soap – no dishwasher. Refrain from using a silver dip, as enamel inlays and gilding could be damaged.
