Material and craftsmanship

The podstakannik is cast in 925 sterling silver and features a sculptural high-relief scene all the way around: capercaillie among trees, the classic habitat of this upland game bird in mature forest. With approx. 204 g of silver in the holder alone, it is solidly made. The scene runs around the entire body, so it unfolds as a narrative when the glass is turned. The included teaspoon complements the theme: a delicate branch-shaped handle with suggested bark texture, topped with a sculpted capercaillie with a fanned tail. The spoon has an antique patina, a thin surface darkening in the recessed areas of the relief that brings out the sculpture. This patina is not niello; niello is a different technique using fused silver-sulfur paste, typical of the SevChern workshop. This ArgentA set has a surface coating that combines an antique look with protection against further tarnishing and will not wear off unintentionally with everyday use. Both silver pieces are solid, not silver-plated and contain no filler.

Care

Wipe the podstakannik dry after use. Do not put it in the dishwasher or use an abrasive sponge. Wash the tea glass separately and return it to the case once dry. If visible tarnishing occurs, polish with a silver polishing cloth. The raised surfaces can be polished carefully while the recesses retain their depth and preserve the scene. Wipe the teaspoon dry after use as well; its antique patina will not wear off with everyday use. Ideally, store the set in the included case.
