Description
Description
Some gifts say it all without uttering a word — when you engrave a person's name, date, or initials in silver, that piece gains a story that is uniquely its own. This is precisely what our "The Master" tea glass holder set by ArgentA is designed for: a classically elegant Podstakannik made of 925 sterling silver with an oval escutcheon in the center, framed by a laurel wreath and ribbon. The field is deliberately left blank — it awaits you.
Accompanying it is a delicate "Imperator" teaspoon with its own engraving area at the end of the handle and a classic diamond-cut crystal glass. Everything rests in a velvet-lined premium case in navy blue — making it arguably the most personal tea gift in our ArgentA line.

View Business GiftsThe "The Master" Holder — Classicism for Personalization
The "The Master" Podstakannik (Russian: Хозяин — master of the house, patron, master of the household) is constructed differently from the narrative holders in our tea line. Instead of a high-relief image (like Troika or Capercaillie Hunt), it features an open column structure reminiscent of ancient temple colonnades. At its center: a large oval medallion, framed by a laurel wreath and ribbon — the classic Empire motif for "honor" and "recognition."
This medallion is the stage. This is where the engraving goes. Initials, a family monogram, a company logo, a date, a coat of arms — anything that defines the recipient. The surrounding laurel wreath automatically lends a ceremonial, honoring effect to every entry.
Around it: four delicate acanthus feet instead of a classic base, a bail handle with laurel leaf decoration and pearl edge, acanthus volutes between the columns. Highly polished 925 silver — deliberately without blackening, so that the light dances unbroken over the form and the engraving.
What's included in the set?
- "The Master" Podstakannik: 925 silver, height approx. 95 mm, diameter approx. 68 mm, approx. 156 g. Column structure with central oval escutcheon (laurel wreath and ribbon), 4 acanthus feet, bail handle with pearl edge. Highly polished, without blackening.
- "Imperator" Teaspoon: 925 silver, length approx. 130 mm, approx. 23 g. Classicist handle with pierced oval handle crown and laurel leaf border — the handle crown also offers an engraved initial field. Highly polished bowl.
- "Tschajny" (Diamond) Crystal Glass: classic Russian tea glass, approx. 200 ml, 65 × 100 mm, cut diamond pattern. Replaceable consumable part — easily replaced if something happens.
- Premium Navy Blue Case: velvet-lined, approx. 132 × 132 × 165 mm. Protects the silver from air contact and serves as ready gift packaging.
By the way: The "The Master" holder is also available as a solo variant (Podstakannik only, without glass, spoon, and case) — perfect if you want to use your own glass or add multiple holders to a table service.
Engraving — what's possible, what's not
On the Podstakannik, the central oval medallion is ideal. Realistic options:
- Initials (1–3 letters) in classic script or as an intertwined monogram
- Family crest or company logo (if it can be rendered as a line drawing)
- Date (e.g., 14.05.2026) or a short motto (max. 3–4 words, clearly legible)
- A combination: initials at the top, date at the bottom
On the "Imperator" spoon, the pierced handle crown provides a second small engraving field — ideal for a single initial or a date. Hand engraving by a silversmith is the most beautiful solution; it perfectly complements the classicist style of the holder. Machine laser engraving is a simpler alternative but looks more technical.
Allow about 1–2 weeks for a beautiful hand engraving. We are happy to provide contact information — price and duration depend on complexity, font, and coat of arms. Bring your desired motif (e.g., as a drawing, photo of an existing coat of arms, or vector file).
"The Master" — what does the name mean?
In the Russian original, the set is called "Хозяин" — one of those words that cannot be captured in a single English word. Literally: "the master of the house." But in a broader sense also: the master, the patron, the responsible one, the protector — the one who securely leads their house, their business, their family. In English, we found "The Master" to be the most fitting: someone who masters their craft, their role, their world.
This is precisely why this set is a classic gift for people in positions of responsibility: the father, the grandfather, the director, the board member, the godfather, the business partner. The laurel wreath medallion is the recognition. The engraving makes it personal.
Why no picture, but a blank field?
Our other tea sets tell stories: The Troika flies through the snow, the Capercaillie struts in the high forest, Perov's hunters rest by the campfire. Each of these high reliefs is a finished picture — beautiful, but fixed.
"The Master" is different. Here, the picture is deliberately absent. Instead, the laurel wreath frames an empty space that you fill. This makes the set the perfect gift when the recipient themselves is the main character — when they are the picture, not a motif.
When is "The Master" particularly fitting?
- Business gift: director, board member, business partner, long-serving employee for an anniversary. The logo fits centrally in the medallion.
- Father's or grandfather's gift: family monogram in the laurel wreath — passed down through generations.
- Godfather's or godmother's gift: for confirmation, graduation, engraved with the date.
- Wedding gift to the groom: initials + wedding date, laurel wreath as symbolic "tribute to the new master of the house."
- Round birthday, retirement, promotion: the medallion becomes a small, dignified award.
- Patriotic and institutional occasions: coat of arms of a city, fraternity, lodge, church district.
Material and Care
925 sterling silver, highly polished, without further finishing. This very property makes the holder so appreciative for engraving: there is no blackening in the depressions that could be damaged by an engraving, and no sensitive coating. Just pure silver.
- Clean holder and spoon only by hand with warm water, mild dish soap, and a soft cloth — no dishwasher, no abrasive sponges or scouring agents.
- In case of slight tarnishing: soft silver polishing cloth without abrasive — restores mirror shine in seconds.
- Wipe dry after use, store in the case — protects against air contact and delays tarnishing.
- Diamond glass: dishwasher safe on a short gentle cycle; hand washing is gentler and yields clearer results.
Comparison: "The Master" vs. other ArgentA Tea Sets
We offer four ArgentA tea sets side by side. Which one suits which occasion?
- The Master (this set): Classicism with laurel wreath medallion, without blackening. Perfect for personal engraving. Director, father, business anniversary.
- Troika: Russian folk symbol, three horses, winter sleigh with blackening. Russia enthusiasts, wedding, winter gift.
- Capercaillie Hunt: High-relief big game, capercaillie sculpture as spoon finial. Hunters, hunting fraternity members.
- Hunters at Rest (Perov): High-relief based on Perov's 1871 painting. Art connoisseurs and hunters.
"The Master" is the right choice when the piece is meant to merge with the recipient — through engraving, not through a predefined scene. If you prefer giving coffee as a gift: also check out our coffee sets Libellula and Rosalia.
Frequently Asked Questions about The Master Set
Is engraving included in the price?
No, engraving is a separate service. We are happy to connect you with a silversmith. Price and duration depend on complexity (number of letters, coat of arms detail, font) and method (hand engraving or laser engraving).
What can be engraved on the holder's medallion?
Initials, monogram, family crest, company logo, date, short motto (max. 3–4 words). The oval field is approx. 30 × 22 mm — line drawings work best. Very fine photorealism is not practical on this surface.
Does the set have blackening like the Troika?
No. "The Master" is highly polished 925 silver without blackening. This is precisely what makes it so good for engraving — there is no black patina layer that could be damaged during engraving. If you want blackening, check out Troika, Capercaillie Hunt or Hunters at Rest.
Can I also have the spoon engraved?
Yes. The pierced oval handle crown of the "Imperator" spoon offers a small second engraving field — ideal for a single initial or a date, matching the holder's medallion.
How big is the drinking glass, what fits in it?
The diamond-cut crystal glass holds approx. 200 ml — perfect for a classic Russian tea cup with strong black tea. For comparison: the other sets in the line have 250-ml glasses. "The Master" is thus a bit more delicate and actually closer to the traditional Russian Stakan measure.
Is the set dishwasher safe?
No, not the silver components. Please clean the holder and spoon only by hand. The diamond-cut crystal glass is robust and dishwasher safe on a short gentle cycle — but hand washing is gentler here too.
What does "The Master" mean in Russian?
In the Russian original, the set is called "Хозяин" — literally "master of the house," meaning the responsible one, the master, the patron, the one who leads the house, business, or family. Very masculine, very respectful. In English, we find "The Master" to be the most fitting — the one who masters their craft and their world.
Is the set also suitable for women's gifts?
Unlike Troika, "The Master" has a symbolically masculine connotation (master of the house, laurel wreath). For women's gifts, we recommend the coffee sets Libellula or Rosalia, or the gender-neutral Troika set.
Is the holder also available without glass and spoon?
Yes — the holder is also available as a solo "The Master" variant (Podstakannik only, without glass, spoon, and case). Practical if you want to add multiple holders to a table service or use your own glass.
How long does engraving take?
Hand engraving by a silversmith: 1–2 weeks. Machine laser engraving: a few days. Allow enough lead time for gift dates.
