Description
Some gifts only become complete when the recipient’s name is on them. The “Patron Antique Patina” tea glass holder set features a 925 sterling silver podstakannik with a classical column design and an empty oval medallion framed by a laurel wreath and bow—ready for your engraving. Unlike the high-gloss polished “The Master” set, this holder has an antique patina; the darkened recesses make the acanthus, laurel and borders stand out in relief. It also includes a classic silver teaspoon and a diamond-cut crystal glass, presented together in a premium case lined with velvet.

Materials and craftsmanship
The “Patron” podstakannik features a classical column design with a central oval medallion framed by a laurel wreath and bow—deliberately left blank for engraving. Acanthus scrolls sit between the columns, while the handle is decorated with laurel leaves and a beaded edge. The recesses in the decorative details have an antique patina, while the raised surfaces remain polished, bringing the holder’s structure and the medallion frame into relief. The included classic silver teaspoon has an elegant handle with an oval terminal and subtle acanthus detailing at the neck, plus a high-gloss polished bowl—a more understated design than the “Imperator” version in the “The Master” set, without a second engraving area. The “Tschajny” diamond-cut crystal glass, with its geometric cut pattern, is a replaceable consumable and can be reordered if needed. The darkening is a surface patina and is technically distinct from niello, SevChern’s sulfur-silver inlay technique.
Uses and occasions
The blank medallion makes this set a fitting gift when you want initials, a family crest or a company logo to take center stage, framed by the stately effect of the laurel wreath. It makes a Father’s Day gift with a family monogram, a gift for a grandfather in a Russian-German family with heirloom appeal, or a business gift for a director, board member or long-serving employee to mark an anniversary. It also works well as a gift from a godparent for a confirmation or school graduation, engraved with a date. Other fitting occasions include a wedding gift for the groom with initials and date, a milestone birthday, retirement or promotion, as well as patriotic and institutional occasions featuring a city coat of arms or club emblem. If you prefer a more modern, high-gloss polished version with an additional engraving area on the spoon, see our “The Master” set. Discover more pieces in our 925 silver tableware collection.
Engraving and SilberVerse card
The oval medallion on the holder measures approx. 30 × 22 mm and is the main feature for your engraving: initials in classic script or as an interlaced monogram, a family crest or company logo as a line drawing, a date or a short motto of no more than three to four words. A combination of initials at the top and a date below is also possible. The spoon’s flat oval handle terminal can also be engraved, for example with initials or a short date. Hand engraving with a burin by a silversmith best suits the classical style; allow approximately one to two weeks for a beautifully finished result. On request, we’ll include a 15 × 10 cm SilberVerse card—designed digitally with a personal message, free of charge.
Care
Clean the holder and spoon by hand only, using warm water, mild dish soap and a soft cloth—never in the dishwasher, and never rub away the darkening in the recesses with silver polish. Wipe dry after use and store in the case to protect it from contact with air and slow natural tarnishing. If the polished surfaces tarnish more heavily, use a soft silver polishing cloth without abrasive grit on the raised areas only, never in the darkened recesses. After a new engraving, it is best to wait a few days before cleaning the engraved area. The diamond-cut glass is dishwasher-safe on a short, gentle cycle, but handwashing is gentler and keeps it clearer.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference from the “The Master” set?
Both have a blank coat-of-arms medallion for personalization, but their finishes differ: “Patron” has an antique patina with darkened recesses, while “The Master” is high-gloss polished without darkening. The “Imperator” spoon in the Master set also offers a second engraving area on the handle crown; the spoon in the Patron set is a classic silver teaspoon without a separate engraving area.
Is engraving included?
No, it is added as a flat-rate engraving service, which you add to your cart along with the set; we’ll confirm the wording with you afterward. The time and effort depend on the complexity, font and level of detail in the crest.
Is the darkening the same as niello?
No. Niello is a sulfur-silver inlay technique typical of SevChern from Veliky Ustyug. The darkening used here is a surface patina in the recesses.
