The core of the Inspiration series is the floral niello ornamental band on the saucers: a continuous pattern of floral rosettes and tendrils, worked into fine engraved lines and filled with dark niello alloy. Niello is not a paint or a lacquer — it is a black metal alloy of silver, copper, lead, and sulfur, which is burned into the silver at over 800 degrees. It permanently bonds with the base metal. It does not fade.

The gilded handles of the cups and the gilded spoon handles create warm accents against the polished silver and dark niello. Three values in one set — cold, warm, dark.

The Inspiration Series by SevChern

SevChern is a manufactory in Veliky Ustyug, Northern Russia — a city with a niello tradition dating back to 1683. The geographically protected designation of origin makes niello from Veliky Ustyug a genuine product of origin: authentic Ustyug niello may only be produced there. The Inspiration series is one of the manufactory's most famous motifs — a floral ornament that bears the character of classic Russian silver while being timeless enough for modern tables.
