Astra Classic is the gilded version of one of the oldest lines in the SevChern range. On larger surfaces, such as the back of the serving blade, the composition unfolds asymmetrically and fluidly; individual petals are gilded, adding gold-tone accents to the black niello. The line comes in several material variations in the range. Astra Classic is the gilded standard variant (this piece and the dinner sets). Astra Black (SKU 11685) is the same line without any gilding — a pure black-silver contrast, a bit more demanding to care for because pure silver needs regular polishing. Astra Classic or Provence — how do the lines differ stylistically?
Both from the same manufactory, both floral niello. Astra uses a stylized round blossom (aster- or sunflower-like) and flowing leaf tendrils in an asymmetrical composition. Provence (12703) uses roses and lancet-like pointed leaves in a symmetrical, bouquet-framed composition. If you are adding to an existing table setting line, choose the matching line; if buying a standalone piece, decide based on botanical preference.

Is personal engraving possible?
Not guaranteed for every piece. The niello ornament on the handle runs on both sides within the framed field; the serving blade is gilded, and an engraving there would chip the gilding at the edge. Dishwasher, cleaning, care?
Dishwasher excluded — aggressive tabs attack gilding and niello. Hand wash with warm water and mild detergent, dry immediately. For tarnish on bare silver areas, use a silver polishing cloth, never directly on the niello ornament.
