Material and craftsmanship

The base material is 925 sterling silver, high-polish. Along all four edges runs a border of acanthus leaves and volutes, while the center features the Russian double-headed eagle coat of arms in detailed gold engraving instead of an empty medallion, with two eagle heads facing outwards, outstretched wings, and a central shield. This motif has been a staple of Russian goldsmithing on silverware, jewelry boxes, and cases since the 17th century. The gilding is engraved and inlaid: the lines were first engraved into the silver and then filled with genuine gold—no foil, no spray. The case is crafted at the Mstera factory in the Russian Vladimir Region. The case is hallmarked.

A soft silver polishing cloth will restore the original shine in one to two minutes without damaging the gold inlay. Store dry, preferably in the included gift box.
