The round disc displays a bear face as a sculptural relief set against a finely textured, dotted background. The handle below is decorated for the most part with a floral vine ornament, yet just before the bottom end, a smooth, recessed field remains free of decoration. The Italian manufacturer Zaramella lists this model under the name "Ball with Bear" (Item 8403-OR).

Usage and Development

From birth, the disc serves as an object for grasping and observing, with the bear face and textured surface offering different tactile stimuli. Most babies begin to move the disc on their own by the fourth month of life.
