Material and workmanship

The spoon is made of 925 sterling silver and features the Aries emblem in the bowl – recognizable by the curved horn and the left-facing posture, the classic depiction of the zodiac sign. The motif is gold-plated, making it stand out clearly from the silver-gold base. The stem is completely gold-plated, and a floral niello ornament sits at the end of the handle: a dark, matte silver alloy that is melted into finely pre-engraved lines and permanently bonded to the metal – like ink in silver, not applied, but chemically and physically fused. This niello technique originates from Veliky Ustyug, one of the most famous centers of Russian silversmithing. The contrast of gold, silver, and deep niello black makes the spoon a dining companion that draws attention as soon as the dessert is served.

Use and occasions

An Aries birthday falls between March 21 and April 19 – a dessert spoon with their symbol is a fitting choice for this moment: not an everyday gift, but a piece with high recognition value. Astrologically, Aries stands for new beginnings, energy, and the courage to take the first step; in Greek myth, the ram is the creature with the Golden Fleece, which the golden shimmer on the stem alludes to. Suitable for spring birthdays, confirmation, anniversaries, or as a wedding gift for an Aries couple. For those looking for the complete zodiac set: a dessert fork, teaspoon, and baby spoon with the same motif are available as sister pieces in our silver cutlery collection.

Engraving and SilberVerse card

The bowl already bears the gold-plated Aries motif, the stem is fully gold-plated, and the handle features the niello ornament – additional engraving would damage the gold layer or the niello lines and is therefore not offered as part of the standard service. For a personal message, we recommend our 15 × 10 cm landscape-format SilberVerse card: a digitally designed, unique photo card included free of charge with the gift box.

Care

Hand wash with mild detergent, then polish dry immediately. No dishwasher, no silver dips – gold plating and niello cannot withstand aggressive agents. Storing it dry in the gift box is sufficient for everyday care; polish gently with a silver polishing cloth if necessary.
